Great and Holy Week

The six-volume work titled “The Holy and Great Week” has been published by EAR Publications.

The work was produced after the musical interpretations of the Archon Protopsaltai of the Great Church of Christ, Konstantinos Pringos and Thrasyvoulos Stanitsas, together with the Lampadarios Nikolaos Daniilidis, were transcribed from live recordings and notated in Byzantine musical notation. These interpretations were performed in the Patriarchal Church of St. George in the Phanar (Church of St. George) during the years 1955–1963.

The work includes:

  1. All, without exception, the musical texts (for both the First and Second Choirs) of the services of Holy Week, beginning with the evening service of Palm Sunday and continuing through to the Divine Liturgy of Resurrection Sunday.

  2. All the prose texts that are read or recited by the choirs (Psalms, Prophecies, Epistle readings, etc.).

  3. The complete sequence and the liturgical order of each service. Each service is presented in its entirety, from the priest’s opening “Blessed is…” to the final “Through the prayers…”.
The only additional book required by the choirs is the Menaion for each day.
